The iconic model M990 have 30 year.
To celebrate this anniversary New Balance made a reedition called M990GRY.
This edition is made only of 990 pairs.
Made from grey color this edition is quite hard to find.
Two shops were selling it in Paris, Colette and Starcow but they are already out of stock…
I still miss that one in my collection but I’m trying hard to get it.
If someone know where I can find a 9,5 US size….:-)

At the end of the 90’s all the Dr. Martens production was outsourced to Asia.
All the British Dr. Martens manufactures were closed.
Only remained open, a small unit located in Wollaston.
This 40 employees unit was there to craft samples.
Some times ago, the brand finaly decided to have it’s vintage lines and limited edition lines produced in Wollaston.
Originals models such as the 1460 and the 1461 amongst others are produced in Wollaston.
Just near the manufacture, they have open a small museum wich displays some collector pieces.
The fact of having a small part of the production (2%) Made in England is, of course, a marketing strategy, but on the other hand if people will follow those Made Europe products, the brands will, slowly but surely, go back to a bigger Made in Europe strategy !

When I was 9 year old (in 1980) we moved to a sunny Country and settle down 10 meters from the Mediterranean Sea.
For me it was a big smash in the face.
Passing from a cold rainy and boring country to a kids Paradis sunny country.
As living in front of the sea, I was each afternoon at the sea learning to surf.
Very fast I discovered all the surf and skate brands that were part of our univers; Ocean Pacific, Gordon & Smith, Lightning Bolt, Town & Country and all the others.
One day a Friend came back with a tee that surprise all of us : a copy of the Chanel logo with two S back to back : Stussy was born !!!
Shawn Stussy was a Californian shaper that decided to launch a small surf orientated tee brand.
The rest is history.
What a surprise when I learned that Shawn have launch a new label “S/Double Studio”.
It’s like Back to the Future !
But when I saw the result : Bravo !
Shawn have team up with the Best producer in each category to produce each piece of the collection.
The shoes are made by Mark McNairy, the Varsity Jacket is made by Dehen, the shirts are made by the New England Shirt Co. and they have made a jeans using a twenty year dead stock Japanese selvage fabric !
The concept is great : 30 years ago we wanted surf/street brands.
Today we want “authentic” great quality clothing with references to the Past.
That’s what S/Double Studio is about, giving to yesterday kids today quality.
Good Luck Mr. Stussy !

[dropcap]R[/dropcap]un DMC use to say “My Adidas”, I’m used to say “My New Balance”….
As a kid, I was leaving in a diplomatic area where most of the kids were coming from the US.
During all those years, the early 80’s, I was watching the way they were dressed.
The brands were, of course, american and it was always the same ones : Nike, Penfield, New Balance, Ocean Pacific, Town & Country, and many others….
Not that those brands were “fashion brands”, they were just “American brands”.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]oday, when I’m looking at the New Balance on my feet, I’m sure that the addiction that I have to New Balance comes from that time…
New Balance was created in Boston in 1906 by a British immigrant named Arthur Hall.
Since 1972, New Balance belong to one of the richest man on Earth, Mr. James S. Davis.
[dropcap]M[/dropcap]ost of the New Balance shoes are made in the USA, England, Vietnam and China.
The chinese production is more for the “Key Account” who are making big quantities and special production (MFO’s – made for outlets) like Footlocker and others….
The vietnamese production is made for the regular collections (regular retailers) and the american and british production are more Special Editions and high quality orientated.
Since I was a kid, I was only wearing the 574 and 576.
Now, I’m strating to look at the 577 and the 1500….:-)

Calzaturificio Michele Secchiari was founded in 1975.
They are based in Montegranaro in Le Marche, the Italian region that is one of the most important shoe manufacturing areas worldwide.
The shoes are, of course, handcrafted in Italy using eco-friendly materials.
The Punto Pigro Origin line is inspired by a method Native Americans use to weave moccasins : The Opanka construction : The bottom is placed on the last and moulded by hand with the upper.
A Punto Pigro Origin will never be identical to another : every pair is unique.

Peter Non footwear is hand-crafted in Italy’s Dolomites from only eco-friendly materials.
The Peter Non footwear Peter Non presents a mix of high-end and natural materials, characterised by irregular surfaces and textures made from rope, straw and leather.
The cows are used in reverse to obtain a raw appearance. The variations in fabric reinterpret the shoe with prestigious sangallo and laces of the historic embroidery Vanoni.
The shoes are different from all what you could have seen and we love them.

La Portegna is a Spanish leather accessories brand.
The concept is based on travelling and the use of high quality fabrics.
All La Portegna pieces are made by hand in Spain (no small factories, no workshops) wich gives the particular look to the collection.
We were amazed by a natural leather that was tan using olives oil !!!!!
As more as the leather age as beautiful he gets.
The iconic piece in the collection stay the Cuerita Travel Slippers.
Those slippers are 100% made by hand from natural leather.
They are incredibly soft and light : a MUST have !
More than 20 hours of craftsmanship for this incredible pair of shoes “Pierre Corthay“, imagined by a customer. If you look at the two shoes, you will see they are different. Matching green laces, orange rhinestone crystals incrusted one by one by hand on the medallion.
I would like to know the name of the “very special customer” for which this pair was performed.
But “Pierre Corthay” produces other beautiful shoes easier to match. All made in is workshop in France since 2003.
